For expecting couples
Prepare your relationship for parenthood.
Four guided sessions for expecting couples who want to meet the newborn months as a team, not two exhausted strangers.
No one prepares you for what a baby does to the two of you.
You’ve read about the diapers and the sleep. What’s harder to find is help with the late-night resentments, the silent scorekeeping, and the feeling that you’re suddenly on different planets.
Most couples don’t fall apart over one big thing. They drift, quietly, in the months when they’re too tired to talk.
Before Baby is time set aside now, while you still have it, to get ready for each other and not just the baby.
What I see in my work with couples
I see the same story again and again. A couple who felt solid before their baby comes to me a year or two later feeling like roommates. They’re exhausted, keeping score, and arguing about who does more. Small hurts have piled up because there was never time to talk about them. Some feel more alone in their relationship than they ever have.
This is more common than most people realize. Research has found that about two-thirds of couples report a drop in relationship satisfaction in the first few years after a baby arrives.
It doesn’t have to go that way.
The couples who do best aren’t the ones who never struggle. They’re the ones who talked about the hard parts ahead of time: who will do what, how each of them reacts under stress, and how they’ll find their way back to each other after a hard night. These are skills, and you can learn them before you need them.
Preparing now means more patience with each other, fewer of the same fights, and a calmer home for your baby. It’s one of the most loving things you can do for your family.

I’m Cindy.
I’m a psychologist who works with sensitive, thoughtful people around anxiety, relationships, and the transition to motherhood.
I created Before Baby because couples spend months preparing for a baby, and very little time preparing for how their baby will impact their relationship.

Questions couples ask
When should we start?
The second or third trimester is ideal. Earlier is welcome too, including while you’re trying.
Is this couples therapy?
No. Before Baby is a short, structured preparation series for couples who want to go into parenthood well prepared. If it turns out you’d benefit from more support, I’ll help you find the right next step.
Do we both need to be there?
Yes. All four sessions are for the two of you together.
This isn’t our first baby. Can we still come?
Yes. Every baby changes the shape of a family, and your plan will take into account the children you already have.
How do the sessions work?
We meet over video for 90 minutes, from wherever the two of you are most comfortable.
Give your relationship the same care you’re giving the baby registry.
I keep a limited number of spots so each couple gets my full attention. If you’re expecting and this speaks to you, reach out and we’ll find a time to begin.
