Maybe this sounds familiar…

  • You argue about the same things over and over.
  • You say things you don’t mean, or you stop saying much of anything at all.
  • One of you reaches while the other pulls away.
  • Small disagreements become big ones.
  • You both end up hurt, defensive, frustrated or alone.
  • You still love each other. You just can’t seem to find your way back to each other.

You’re not broken. You’re stuck, and there’s a difference.

Most couples don’t come to therapy because they don’t care about each other. They come because the ways they’ve learned to protect themselves have begun getting in the way of the relationship they want.

When we feel hurt, rejected, criticized, overwhelmed or misunderstood, we react. We pursue. We withdraw. We defend. We shut down. Over time, these patterns can become automatic. Couples therapy gives us a place to slow those moments down and understand what is actually happening between you.

What to expect

  • Making sense of the places where you get stuck.
  • Understanding what each of you is needing beneath the conflict.
  • Staying with what is happening, rather than replaying the same argument.
  • Noticing how you reach for one another, and how you protect yourselves.
  • Getting through difficult moments in ways that bring you closer.
  • Feeling like you’re on the same side again.

The goal isn’t to eliminate conflict. It’s to help you navigate difficult moments in ways that leave both of you feeling more connected, understood and supported.

How I work

01

PACT

My work with couples is informed by PACT, the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy. PACT helps us get underneath the arguments and into the heart of what’s happening between you.

02

In real time

Rather than only talking about the relationship, we pay close attention to your moment-to-moment dynamics: how you communicate, how each of you responds under stress, the ways you protect yourselves when things get hard, and what happens when you try to reconnect.

03

Both of you

My approach is also attachment-focused, culturally sensitive and trauma-aware. I’m interested in understanding each of you as an individual while also helping you create a relationship that works for both of you.

I work with couples navigating…

  • RECURRING ARGUMENTS
  • PURSUE-WITHDRAW DYNAMICS
  • FEELING DISCONNECTED OR UNSEEN
  • NEW PARENTHOOD
  • TRYING TO CONCEIVE
  • FERTILITY CHALLENGES
  • PREGNANCY LOSS
  • WHETHER OR WHEN TO HAVE CHILDREN
  • CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS OR IDENTITY DIFFERENCES
  • PAST TRAUMA
  • DIFFERENT ATTACHMENT STYLES
  • NEURODIVERGENCE
  • MAJOR TRANSITIONS

I work with couples of all genders and relationship configurations.

This is a space where your relationship doesn’t have to be perfect, or even peaceful yet. It just has to matter to you.
